1) Short Film Project

Objective

  • To create a professional-grade documentary-style film that portrays a fictitious story based on true events relating to my childhood band. Duration about 15-25 minutes. Additionally, create a small social media campaign/ profile for the production and release of the film. 

Story

  • After two albums and years of hard work, despite being relatively unknown, the band had finally gained a large enough following to book a spot in a decently sized venue. However, only two of the original five members are still part of the band.

Tools: 

  • Adobe Creative Cloud, Video Equipment, Audio Equipment, Lighting Setup, Locations, Actors

Benefits:

  • I have worked on a project like this before – I would be able to show the skills I have mastered and accumulated over the course of my SJU education. 
  • I have been planning this project for a very long time. 
  • Will be using a production crew
  • The most amount of creative liberty. 

Drawbacks:

  • Very Complicated Execution 
  • Not as professional as the other options
  • Requires the help of external people
  • Requires a lot of pre-production work. 
  • I have created something like this before

 

2) Meet the band Interview series

Objective:

  • To create professional-grade interview-style videos introducing local (at most x2) Philadelphia bands. Additionally, craft small social media campaigns highlighting the members, their music, and upcoming events. 

Tools: 

  • Adobe Creative Cloud, Video Equipment, Audio Equipment, Lighting Setup, Locations, Band(s), Travel/ Production Expenses

Benefits: 

  • I have worked on a project like this before – I would be able to show the skills I have mastered and accumulated over the course of my SJU education. 
  • Can be created and seen in a very professional manner. 
  • Will be the head of a production crew
  • A large amount of creative liberty

Drawbacks:

  • Complicated Execution 
  • Need to acquire higher-grade equipment
  • Requires the help of external people.

 

3) Social Media Project

Objective:

  • My mom has recently started her own leadership consulting company which works to promote the ecological self. She has asked me to create a small series of videos and social media posts to get their business off the ground. Potential conversation-based content using her and her co-founder to explain the mission goals of the company. 

Tools:

  • Adobe Creative Cloud, Video Equipment, Audio Equipment, Travel Expenses

Benefits:

  • Will benefit multiple people 
  • If executed properly, the project will be very professional
  • Will not need a production crew

Drawbacks:

  • With the main focus of the project being social media post creation and design, I am nervous to choose this project because that has never been my strong suit. Not my field of study. 
  • Would have to travel to New York multiple times based on what the project requires. 
  • Less complicated execution, however, will be very regimented and I will have less creative liberty.
