Revamp SJU Men’s/Women’s Rowing Social Media/Record Books

The social media accounts of the Saint Joseph’s Rowing teams often have promotional race day content that lags behind other programs. The team record book on sjuhawks.com has not been updated since the 2018-19 season for both the men and the women. I would like to create new race day graphics for both teams, as well as update the record books through the 2021-22 season. I would also, at some point, like to create one or two promotional videos for each team before races to be named later, and have them posted to the respective team’s Instagram and Twitter accounts. I feel as if this is a good project idea for me because it would allow me to produce content for a sport and school that I love, but it would also challenge me to produce content and work that is of the standard of a Division I athletic department.

I would complete this project using several different Adobe programs, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Audition, as well as InDesign for the record books.

The end result of this project would be 8-11 race day graphics (4 for the men’s team, 7 for the women’s team), as well as 2-4 pre-race promotional videos for each team.

Here are some general examples of what I had in mind from Penn , Texas, and Saint Joseph’s Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country

Redesign Navy Day Regatta Website

The Navy Day Regatta, hosted by the Saint Joseph’s Rowing teams, has a website that is extremely outdated. I think a complete overhaul of the aesthetic and layout of the website is much needed. I would like to do this project because Navy Day is a significant source of revenue for the rowing programs, and I feel as if updating the design of the website would be a way of giving back to the team that has given me so much over the last four years. It would challenge me in the sense that I would be attempting to streamline and optimize a website used by coaches, athletes, and parents from hundreds of colleges, high schools, and clubs.

I would be using Squarespace, since the website itself is hosted via a Squarespace account. I would use Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator to possibly alter the current Navy Day logo, and Canva to play around with color schemes and such for the site.

This is what the website currently looks like, and this is a rough idea of what I’d like it to look like.

Create a Rowing Experiences Podcast

I have been fortunate enough to meet many people and make many connections in the rowing world. I have heard a lot of interesting stories and journeys from people in the rowing world, and I feel like a 25-30 minute interview style podcast would be a great way to share these stories with the rowing world. I would like to do this project because I have learned so much from so many people along my own rowing career, and I think other people and rowers could benefit from hearing these stories as well. This would challenge me because I would have to narrow down the list of potential guests so that I have the ideal ten guests, but I would have to then find the best way for all of them to record the podcasts.

To complete this project, I would more than likely have to use Zoom to record the podcasts themselves, and use the recorded zoom calls for social media clips. I would also use Adobe Audition for audio editing, and Illustrator or Canva to create a logo and/or graphics for the podcast. I would also need to utilize Soundcloud and YouTube to upload the podcasts. Soundcloud for audio only, and YouTube for video and audio.

Ideally, there would be about ten episodes of the podcast.
